High Protein; Low Fat Diet or High Carb Diet Better for Weight Loss?

A study which was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition was conducted to determine the differences between following a high protein/low fat diet versus a high carbohydrate diet for weight loss in obese women.
The women in the study were randomly assigned to follow a high protein/low-fat or high carb diet for 12 weeks.  At the completion of the study both groups lost weight but the high protein group had reduced blood lipid levels. This study shows that a high protein diet can help to control the appetite and minimize cravings.
This study further substantiates that the combination of a high protein/low fat diet can lead to weight loss. ISOFLEX whey protein isolate matrix is a delicious and convenient way to increase your daily protein requirements. By including 2-3 scoops to your daily nutrition plan you can change your body composition and will experience incredible changes to your body!

When Whole Food isn’t the Way to Grow

For those of you trying to pack on mass you already know how important protein is in your mass-building plan. You train hard, eat often and take your supplements, but are you consuming the right forms of protein at the right times to ensure optimal growth? Well, according to a recent article in Flex magazine there are three times of the day when it’s essential to consume exclusively whey protein, as opposed to whole food sources. Although the mag didn’t disclose what brand of protein best helps you reach your goals, we’re confident that ISOFLEX whey protein isolate is your best choice to pack on serious mass and recover from your workouts.

3 Critical Times to Consume ISOFLEX Protein:

1.  In the morning - when you sleep your body goes without food for six or more hours putting you in a state of catabolism. To shift your body into an anabolic state (which is essential to increase lean muscle mass) consume a protein shake with 1-2 scoops of ISOFLEX or add a couple scoops of ISOFLEX to a hearty bowl of oatmeal.
2. Pre-Workout - by consuming a protein shake with 1-2 scoops of ISOFLEX approximately 30 minutes prior to training you can maximize protein synthesis and prevent catabolism.
3. Post-Workout- as soon as you’ve dropped your final set your next step should be to consume an ISOFLEX protein shake with some fast acting carbs (2-3 rice cakes are a quick and easy option). This will boost protein synthesis and prevent muscle breakdown.

For high performance nutrition make every protein option count by consuming high quality protein choices. ISOFLEX is a delicious perfect blend of protein that’ll provide the nutrients you need to take it to the next level!

Protein Isn’t Just For Generation Xers

High protein diets have been the trend for the past couple of years, but eating protein isn’t really just a popular fad. Protein is an essential macronutrient for every age group. Recent research conducted at the University of Texas suggests that as people age protein is promising to help slow muscle deterioration.
The study compared a young and elderly study group who consumed 4 oz. of protein. The scientists measured the participants’ blood and muscle samples and found even five hours after consuming protein  both groups had a 50% increase in protein synthesis.

Although the study group was extremely small it showed that protein is critical for the elderly population to prevent muscle breakdown and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Currently, only a small percentage of the aging population consumes the RDA for protein every day. By increasing their daily protein consumption lean muscle mass can be retained.

No matter what your age or goal you can benefit from consuming ISOFLEX protein powder.

It’s confirmed – High Quality Protein is Essential Post Workout for Adequate Recovery

A recent review of the current research on post-workout nutrition conducted by the Gatorade Sports Institute (GSSI) further confirms what most of us already know – both protein and carbs are essential for adequate recovery after training.  GSSI reviewed almost 20 peer-reviewed journal entries and found that a combination of protein and carbs promotes muscle repair after strenuous exercise training. The analysis of the research showed that consuming a high-quality protein source, such as ISOFLEX protein powder which provides a substantial 27 grams of whey protein isolate, combined with a carbohydrate source is essential to enhance protein synthesis and replenish stores of muscle glycogen. The combination of protein mixed with carbs was found to be more effective than simply a carbohydrate source alone.

Protein Essential for Dieters to Retain Lean Body Mass

The February issue of the journal of Obesity featured a study conducted to determine the differences a high protein versus a normal protein diet have on body weight, body composition and overall mood on female dieters. The study was composed of two study groups who consumed calorie-restricted diets. One group followed a high protein diet, with about 30% total caloric intake from protein while the other group consumed a normal protein diet, with 18% total caloric intake from protein.
After 12 weeks both groups lost weight but the high protein study group retained more lean body mass and tended to be more satisfied with the diet they were following.
If you’re following a calorie-reduced diet protein can help to maintain lean muscle mass and may even help to sustain your hunger levels and prevent those nasty cravings often associated with dieting. ISOFLEX protein powder contains only one gram of sugar and tastes so delicious you won’t feel as though you are sacrificing your favorite foods to reach your goals.
